Established as a private fishing Club at the mouth of the Dispatch Creek more than 60 years ago, Ocean Reef Club has literally grown up around its prized Marina. Having long attracted legendary sportfishermen and yachtsmen to its renowned harbor, the Marina is a place where boaters have met and gathered for decades. For some, Ocean Reef Club’s 175-slip Marina is more than just a place to dock their boat—it’s their home. There are quite a few Equity Members who are “live aboards”—they own their dock slips and spend every winter season happily ensconced aboard their motor yachts with every creature comfort.
“There’s every possible convenience at your fingertips,” says one of our Members, who has lived aboard a series of power boats for the past 20 seasons, 10 of them at Ocean Reef Club. “The Marina offers a range of services and facilities that exceed many boat owners’ expectations, including telephone, cable television, high-speed Internet and electrical service comparable to that found in most homes.” There’s also mail service, message and newspaper delivery, and daily room service available. It’s like living in a small town.
“There’s a camaraderie here that is something special, and it has much to do with the fact that your neighbors are just a few steps away. I see every one of the people who live on my dock half a dozen times a day. All this and we have some of the best fishing in North America in our backyard and the Bahamas only 56 miles away.”
